This is a formal way to comprehensively measure an individual’s cognitive functioning, feelings, emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, personality, and quality of relationships with an aim of identifying strengths and needs for ongoing treatment planning. We comprehensively assess the ways in which the various elements of one's life impact their overall functioning with a goal of uncovering hidden adaptive qualities and how to use these to one's advantage, as well as areas for improvement and how to manage them.
Areas addressed: clarifying therapy goals, informing a psychotropic medication management regimen, and formal diagnosis for conditions like attention (ADHD), autism (ASD), school problems, behavior disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, other mood disorders, weight issues, eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, work problems, and life transitions
This form of assessment is conducted to identify one's learning style, uncover possible learning differences, help determine the type of setting best suited for the individual's needs, including necessary school accommodations, or determine if a young child is ready to start school.
At HPS, these evaluations are conducted by a School Psychologist, meaning the assessments, results, and recommendations align with IDEA guidelines and can be seamlessly accepted and implemented by the school.
Areas addressed: specific learning disabilities, autism (ASD), intellectual disability, educational planning, possible emotional disturbance concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, behavior concerns impacting learning, school readiness, and other school concerns
This comprehensive assessment is conducted to determine a young child’s overall adaptive skills and cognitive functioning to identify strengths and needs beyond simply obtaining their developmental level. Many factors and systems contribute to a child's functioning and our focus on the whole child takes all of this into account in an effort to identify a child's strengths and areas for growth. Often, early identification and intervention are key to a child's future success.
Areas addressed: formal diagnosis for conditions like attention (ADHD), autism (ASD), sensory concerns, eating problems, depression, anxiety, trauma, school problems, behavior concerns, impact of medical conditions, and informing medication management
